Worship at Resurrection Lutheran Church
At least three times a week, the Resurrection community gathers to worship and praise our Risen Lord Jesus Christ. Although some aspects of our worship services vary, we celebrate Holy Communion at each service. Participation in communion is open to all baptized Christians who believe in the real presence of the living Christ. Children are welcome at the altar to receive a blessing. For children up to age four, we offer a staffed nursery during each service.
We welcome visitors to RLC. From the moment you enter our fellowship area, you will be greeted and made to feel welcome. We love children in our house of worship as well. They are welcome to join other children in the nursery or share our worship time with you and members of the congregation. We are a church for families as well as individuals!
We hold two Sunday morning worship services, a traditional one at 8:15 a.m. and a contemporary blended one at 10:45 a.m.
Traditional Service (Sunday, 8:15 a.m.)
The 8:15 a.m. Sunday traditional worship service follows a number of different liturgies throughout the church year, including the various settings from Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW), Now the Feast and Celebration by Marty Haugen, and Victory Feast by Bruce W. Becker and Handt Hanson. We sing both traditional hymns from the ELW and contemporary selections from With One Voice, Praise and Worship and our own RLC songbook.
Contemporary Blended Service with Band (Sunday, 10:45 a.m.)
The 10 a.m. Sunday contemporary blended service combines traditional liturgy and contemporary music. We follow a liturgy and sing contemporary songs led by a band.
The RLC choir, along with soloists and special music groups, plays an integral role in many Sunday services. Children are brought into our worship lives through puppet play and children's sermon. Congregation adults and youth participate as stewards, greeters, ushers, assisting ministers, lectors, puppeteers, acolytes, communion-ware holders, and nursery assistants.
“Alive at Five” Contemporary Service (Saturday, 5 p.m.)
The 5 p.m. Saturday "Alive at Five" service is less formal than our Sunday morning services in its music and format. A band leads the music which includes many types of contemporary Christian songs. The presiding minister's sermon is the same as the one for the following Sunday morning, and he or she reads the lessons and leads the prayers. We incorporate a puppet play or children's sermon into each service. Congregation adults and youth participate as greeters, ushers, communion servers, communion-ware holders, puppeteers, and nursery attendants.
Wings & Prayers is a differently-abled ecumenical worship service for those with developmental disabilities and their families. Services are held at Resurrection the third Sunday of each month from 3 to 3:45 p.m. with fellowship time following. Note that Wings and Prayers will not meet in August, but will begin again on Sunday, September 18.
Special Worship Services
Special worship services are held throughout the church year, including Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday.
